Mary Gibson was celebrated by family and friends at Parkstown Restaurant & Lounge on Saturday. She will be turning 102 years old today.
Nieces Barbara and Michelle came in from San Diego. Her son, Roger, and his girlfriend, Kim, came in from Connecticut, and the rest of the party, hosted by her daughter, Joanne and husband, Jack, included nieces and nephews, grandchildren Laurie and husband, Bob, and great-grandchildren, Jonah and Mary from New Castle. Grandson John could not attend due to illness.
Mary, will be celebrated on her birthday on Tuesday at Life Lawrence County. This wonderful group also cares for Mary 24/7 in one of their small homes.
In Joanne's words, "They are a Godsend. I don't know what I would do without these wonderful people. My mother loves them and I can tell that they love her."
Mary will tell you the key to living long is working long. She retired at the age of 88 from Bruce & Merrilees, where she served as a clerk for many years. She enjoyed working and she enjoyed going to casinos. Well, she actually still enjoys the casinos.
Happy birthday, Mary Gibson!
